cansado is the word for tired, as in estoy cansado (i am tired) if you are a male. estoy cansada would be said by a woman. these feminine and masculine differences in mexican words can cause a bit of a difference in speech translation. when a mexican person speaks english, s/he will oftentimes use a feminine or masculine identifying word in front of it. for example, a fly in mexico is called una mosca, which is feminine. in english, a mexican person will usually call the fly a 'she' instead of an 'it', such as an english-speaking person would say. so, the mexican person would say something like 'i'm sick of that fly in the house. where's the flyswatter? i'm going to kill her' while an english-speaking person would say the first two sentences the sam way, but would slightly change the third sentence to 'i'm going to kill it'. my husband is mexican, raised and went to school in the states, but he still switches these around. it's been a challenge for me to adjust my own knowledge of these translations so they work correctly for all. this week, if you care or dare, notice the feminine and masculine uses of cansado(a), and use them. i think it's good practice. enjoy!
